Give in

Watching all the other states in our country pass gay marriage legislation while Texas does its very best to remain in the 1950’s is interesting. Come on, it’s inevitable. We are acting like that one douchebag who can’t admit they answered a question wrong and has to just push it until we finally either agree or ignore them.

Just drop that shit so we can move on to another issue.

Too many laws

We are at the point in US history that we have more laws than people. I agree with all the ones that affect other people, like making murder illegal, robbery, burglary and anything that hurts someone else. Violence of any kind should be frowned upon.

But drug use, same sex marriage and immigration laws? I get the drug thing, yes. Drugs are bad, but it’s a personal choice. Marriage between two people only has long term effects on the two people getting married. It’s not like you’ll be forced to watch a looping video of their honeymoon forever. The only way a same sex marriage affects you is if you go to the wedding and have to bring a gift. There are no long term effects for straight people.

I’m not saying make Meth legal, no matter how badass Breaking Bad made it look. Marijuana, yes. Harder stuff, we can talk about it.

Mayoral Race 2015

Hello. My name is Curtis Mueller. I’d like for you to consider me as your mayoral candidate for 2015 and beyond.

I believe San Antonio is an amazing city and can be even better. I will do my best to get Google Fiber in San Antonio so we don’t have to deal with Time Warner Cable and AT&T.

I believe our police and firefighters deserve the discount insurance premiums they earn. I don’t agree they should pay the same as any other city employee. There’s a wide gap between a desk job and putting your life on the line for citizens of our town.

I don’t agree with their legal slush fund though. I think if they are willing to give it up we can easily come to a consensus. I need to talk to someone who knows more about it though.

I have opinions on things, but I’m also willing to research other sides. I believe what I believe, but I’m not infallible. Convince me your stand is better, using reason. Yelling just makes people shut down and refuse to listen.

Sexual Assaults in College

I don’t see how colleges don’t already have amazing programs to deal with sexual assault.  They pride themselves on turning away thousands of applicants every semester who don’t meet the academic standards they consider acceptable.  However, a person who commits sexual assault is considered a viable alumnus of the institution.

Rape is an actual crime, and while it’s under reported and sees even less of a conviction rate than murder, it should be grounds for expulsion and put the perpetrator on a national sex offender registry.  Rape should not just hurt the survivor.  It should have consequences for the person who committed the crime.

College might be a time to experiment, but rape isn’t an experiment.  It’s a crime, and a crime with a high recidivism rate at that.  I’ve heard a lot more about cheating scandals than I have about sexual assault cases.  That’s the wrong priority.  How is a bunch of students who cheat on a take home test more newsworthy than a single person being sexually assaulted by a member of the student body?

Stop blaming the survivor.  Victim-blaming is the wrong route to go.  Who gives a shit if she was wearing a short skirt.  Clothing does not indicate anything.  If I walked around the beach in a Speedo, which would be quite acceptable, although grotesque and scarring for life to all who saw it, just because it’s the absolute acceptable minimum of dress for a male in public does not mean you can fuck me.  A short skirt or low cut blouse is no more scandalous than a bikini, and yet as far as I know, the rate of sexual assaults happening at public swimming pools is not an issue.  Sure, some people go to public pools to ogle the eye candy, but when a woman is wearing something less revealing in a setting that doesn’t involve a lot of water, suddenly she is dressed for sex?

I don’t buy that.

I can appreciate beautiful women.  I can appreciate looking at a woman and knowing I will never see her naked.  If I found a person passed out a party I was attending, my first thought would be making sure she’s okay, not if she sucks good dick in her sleep.  Maybe that’s just me.  Perhaps since I’ve never been drunk in my life I don’t know the correct way of thinking when it comes to other drunk people.

Drugs. You want to do them, we want to regulate and tax them. America loses a ton of money to Johnny Jumpup drug dealers. Uncle Sam can be your pusher. It won’t be free. Nothing is free, but it also won’t get you shot in the face by a guy who goes by the name “Pookie”. Again, tax it like cigarettes, treat it like alcohol. Make arrests if you’re dumb enough to not do it safely at home or with friends.

The world we’re in…

I’m an American, and supposedly the worst kind, a male, Caucasian American. I live in Texas. Yes, I own a gun and a license to carry it concealed. I do not own a pick up truck.

I very much enjoy sex. I believe sex should be an amazing experience between two consenting adults. A “blow and go” or “pump and dump” or even a quickie should not be things. When only one person feels fulfilled, you’re doing it wrong.

I don’t care what your sexual orientation is, as long as it fits the consenting adult category above. Animals can not consent, even if they’re adult animals. A minor can not consent, and if you’re an adult you know exactly what is off limits. A person who has been drinking can not legally consent to sex. Why do you want to fuck someone who is drunk anyway? Where is the fun in that?

I know people (Both sexes!) who think quantity matters. Quality is key.

Ah, government. I’ve had the pleasure of living in other countries. I know America is not the greatest country in the world. That honor goes to Costa Rica, a country without a standing army. It’s a democratic country full of protected rain forests, cloud forests, active volcanoes (Three of them!) and wild monkeys. I’d recommend it to anyone as a trip.

But I digress. Why isn’t America great? Because government doesn’t care about the people any more. I was raised to believe that America was founded on a right to freedom, mostly free speech and free religion. I heard monopolies were illegal, and for good reason, but we are about to get a huge one with Comcast and TWC. I’m sure it’s safe to say that those two companies affect over fifty percent of our population. Now imagine if they aren’t competing with anyone, especially each other. They can charge whatever they want for services that we have come to rely on. Even thrive on. I won’t go as far as to say internet (I know you didn’t think I meant landline phone service!) is a necessity to living, but it almost is. I’ve seen homeless people that have given up shelter for a cellphone.

The zombie apocalypse is upon us, and it doesn’t matter if you destroy the brain. I watched people come out of classrooms today staring at their phones, not looking around at all. I understand why talking and driving and texting and driving are illegal. If you can’t walk through a hallway safely, can you really trust yourself with a few thousand pounds of metal surrounding you? The amount of car accidents here in San Antonio as increased dramatically, and the cops don’t ask if you’ve been drinking first. They ask if you were on the phone.

I think it’s time to redefine crime. The only crimes that should be prison terms are ones where you hurt another person, knowingly or accidentally. Endangering others with reckless driving, drunk driving and any form of violence are best handled with rehabilitation. Hurting yourself shouldn’t be illegal, so legalize drugs that people want to do. Keep them at home.

I’m all for the death penalty still, but the punishment must fit the crime. You murder a couple people, mass or serial style, you’re going to die. You hit a person with your car while texting, you go through re-education. Not prison in the normal sense, but a month long re-education program where you learn that technology can wait.

Again, it’s stupid to classify a crime against yourself a crime.

I know I’ve made my stance on prostitution before, but legalize and regulate it. Taxation, oversight committees and monthly testing. It’s not like a female escort doesn’t have a few days down time she can go and do blood work. Tax breaks for a clean bill of health.

I’m sure there more, but that’s enough for now.

Human

We’re born naked into the world with no means of protecting ourselves.
We start life inherently trusting the first people whose touch we feel.
Faces mean nothing, words are gibberish, but the tone soothes all our ills.
We cry, we piss, we eat, we shit, our smile our only weapon.
Life moves on.

We learn words slowly and ask why as often as we can.
Our protectors become our teachers. They show us the exciting side of the world, fresh experiences in our eyes.
Life moves on.

We’re exposed to little things we don’t understand, again inherently trusting the people we’ve known all our lives to steer us in the right direction.

Life in General

The thing I can say for the Russian anti-gay stance is it might make some of the more close-minded Americans rethink theirs.

Phillip Seymour Hoffman’s death doesn’t really sadden me. As most people know, heroin does sometimes have the effect of killing the user. As a non-heroin user myself, it doesn’t really affect me one way or the other. Now if it had been an overdose of Nutella, something amazing and completely required to live a rich and full life, I’d be rethinking my stance. “Nutella killed him? Holy shit! That could have been me!” as I shovel another spoonful in my mouth. “I can quit any time I want.”

RCC

I’ve been privileged to work and volunteer at the Rape Crisis Center for two years now. In that time I’ve given them hundreds of hours of my time, a tv and Bluray player, access to Netflix, two computers and my amazing personality.

In return, they’ve given me a paycheck, people I can talk to when things suck, smiling faces every day, memories I would never get any other way. I have no need to pretend I’m someone I’m not. They accept my T-shirt wearing ass for who I am. Now that I’m in the office I’m surrounded by people who say hello and genuinely seem happy to see me, even if their computer isn’t broken yet.

I don’t dread work. I’ve done 142 hospital cases from false outcries to women bleeding all over the room. I’ve diffused some volatile situations without realizing they were volatile. I’m helped people who started the night expecting no recourse but thanks to my training I can give them hope.

As a hotline worker, I talked a lot of people down from bad nights. Sometimes you just need to get it all out with someone that won’t take it home.

I learned early to let all the negative energy I absorb diffuse on my way home. Comedy albums are great for it.

I’m lucky is what I’m saying. I seem to be built for this job!
